Although competition events, like Autocross and Time Trial are a major part of GGR, GGR also features an array of social events throughout the year. This provides an excellent opportunity for members to get together in an informal environment, share car stories and enjoy each others company.

Year End Banquet
Our premier social event is the "GGR Year-End Banquet." The banquet is held at various locations throughout the Bay Area in mid December or early January. Popular locations include the Blackhawk Museum in Danville and the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos. Eighty to one hundred people generally attend. The banquet provides an opportunity to present the Autocross and Time Trial awards, as well as recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the Club throughout the year.

Family Picnic
Another popular social event is the "GGR Annual Family Picnic / People's Choice Wash and Shine Concours". It takes place at Vasona County Park in Los Gatos the third week of July each year. Over fifty members and twenty-five cars generally attend. The event features an awesome display of pristine Porsches and a delicious catered BBQ lunch, as well as summer games like volleyball and croquet.

Canepa Design Tour
Our "Canepa Design Tour", which we hope to make an annual event, is also very popular. Approximately thirty enthusiasts, and their Porsches, meet in Los Gatos and snake through the scenic Santa Cruz mountains to Scott's Valley. Once in Scott's Valley, we tour the Canepa Design facility. Canepa Design features a state-of-the-art restoration facility, as well as an outstanding museum filled with race cars and high-end collector's cars. It is a "must see" for any auto enthusiast.

Wine and Wrenches Tour

The "Wine and Wrenches Tour" at The Racers Group in Petaluma provides a great opportunity to spend a day touring the TRG facility, looking under race prepared Porsches and enjoying a wonderful catered lunch and an exclusive wine tasting of the famous Adobe Road Winery selection. We hope to make this an annual event too.

Our "Friday Night Social" is held at Harry's Hofbrau in Redwood City on the third Friday of each month. These are small, informal gatherings where members meet to enjoy the food and share each other's company.

Paddock Tours
GGR also arranges "Behind the Scenes Paddock Tours" of top teams like Penske Racing, Brumos Racing and Flying Lizard Racing when they visit Laguna Seca or Sears Point Raceways during the ALMS and Grand Am seasons. We meet team personnel, hear about the logistics required to operate top-level race teams and learn some of the technical aspects of car design, engine specifications and car setup. Boxster Brunch

The "Boxster Brunch" is held at historic Alice's Restaurant at the intersection of Hwy 35 & 84 in Woodside and is open to all Porsches. Twenty plus enthusiasts meet on the first Saturday, every other month to share car stories and enjoy the food. Impromptu tours through the nearby mountain roads sometimes follow the brunch. Mark
