Start Your Engines!

Dear GGR Members,

I am happy to announce that we have an exciting track season scheduled for 2022. We will open registration for all events on MSR (motorsportsreg.com) within the next week or so.

Make sure you take advantage of this winter to do all the car maintenance and upgrades you need. Also remember, of all the supply chain shortages in the world – TIRES are in short supply. So if you need tires, I encourage you to order them now. Tire Rack has 3 of my tires in inventory and I’ve been waiting for over a month for that 4th tire to show up – hopefully before March.

If you have never done a track event before, I’d like to encourage you to seriously consider it. Owning a Porsche is a joy, but being able to drive your Porsche on a track and learning how to safely take it to its performance limits is thrilling! All models of Porsches are welcome with no special modifications necessary – 911s, Boxsters, Caymans, Macans, Panameras, Taycans, 928s, 917s – are all welcome to participate. Ok, one exception, no Porsche tractors allowed.

GGR offers premium weekend track days. We also offer a very experienced instructor corps that is passionate to help you become a faster and safer driver. Because most of our events coincide with our Club Race series, we do not skimp on corner workers, medical staff, and other critical safety positions.

So mark these dates on your calendar and I look forward to seeing you!

1. March 5-6: Instructor Training / DE 1 – Thunderhill East

2. April 2-3: DE 2 and Club Race 1 – Thunderhill East

3. May 14-15: DE 3 and Club Race 2 – Buttonwillow

4. August 26-27-28: DE 4 and Club Race 3 – Sonoma Raceway

5. September 24-25: DE 5 and Club Race 4 – Thunderhill East

6. October 8-9: Club Race 5 (w/ NASA) – Sonoma Raceway

Finally, heartfelt thanks to my predecessor Jim McClelland for helping me setup the track budget, booking dates at the tracks, answering all my stupid questions, and for his generosity and service for the past four years. I’m inheriting a pretty well-oiled machine.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Sincerely,

Howard Yao
