President’s New Year Update

Holiday Greetings from GGR !!

Another holiday season has come and gone, but unlike the last few years, this one was relatively more normal and we hope it was great for you as well!

At this time of year, GGR also takes great pleasure in recognizing our key volunteers that step forward to enable all our events to occur with our volunteer dinner. This year we decided to combine our normally separate volunteer appreciation dinner and Holiday/Awards dinner into one big event at Canepa’s.

While you probably saw the invite and 100 of you were there, it’s a special venue and it was great seeing you all and fun making merry amongst all the Porsche and other interesting cars.

We also presented our club and autocross awards at this event. Congratulations to all the awardees, including Teddy, who took the top PAX award for the 2022 season (pictured below).

  • Event of the year went to the Sonoma combined event where the Motoring team finished their drive at the Sonoma track day and had lunch and laps
  • Top multi-day event went to Frank Vanson for the Gold Country overnighter
  • Top Drive volunteer went to Wen Shen (now our membership director)
  • Enthusiast of the year went to Ed Burghardt
  • Olen Creech to Captain Mike for his 11 years of service as GGR Membership Director

We also collected a trunk full of donations for toys-for-tots:

Aside from that big party not much to report. I did sneak out to the track (Thunderhill) with some Porsche friends, which was fun if a bit cold this time of year

But not much beats a day at the track with friends

At the GGR Board we are hard at work preparing event calendars and 2023 budgets, and welcoming in new board members for VP, Membership and Nugget Editor. Please have a look at other activity director’s blogs and articles for upcoming plans for 2023 and hope to see you at an event real soon. Happy New Year !!
