June 28 Autocross Event

The fourth autocross event of the year took place at Crows Landing with fifty participants in attendance. The last-minute conflict with parking lot repairs at Cow Palace required us to search for a new location with less than two-week notice. Thanks to Ed Hunter’s foresight in retaining Crows Landing as a backup venue, we were able to run the event at the new location.

The weather report called out for 103°F at Crows Landing. GGR course setup team went to work an hour early at 6 AM and completed the task by 7:30 AM, which allowed the first car to go out on the track at 8:30 AM. The event was completed by 1:30 PM – way before temperatures had the chance to reach an uncomfortable level. Everyone enjoyed six laps in the morning and five in the afternoon, with an average lap time of 56.359 seconds. Congratulations to Monty Pack for accomplishing the Top Time of The Day of 49.549 seconds and the top PAX time of 48.657 in his 2018 GT3. Six beginner drivers received personal coaching from GGR coaches. Here is how they fared.

Driver Best Lap Slowest Lap
Vibhu Bithar 55.920 57.754
Benjamin Chang 56.560 59.799
Ernesto Dal Bo 57.644 62.526
Liangyu Chen 60.793 71.502
Pradeep Sangli 61.168 69.836
Anthony Anyanwu 68.673 76.189

2022 Rules and Car Classification

GGR autocross rules and forms are available at Autocross Rules and Forms | PCA Golden Gate Region (pca-ggr.org). Helmet requirement continues to stay at Schnell 2010 or newer rating. The Car Classification scheme does NOT change this year. GGR will continue to use Zone 8 car classification system at http://zone8.pca.org/CarClass/Default.aspx. New members interested in joining autocross events should classify their cars ahead of time to reduce time during the registration process.
