Ever been to Car Week?

Car Week has been held in Monterey since the ’50s, canceled just once (in 2020 due to Covid) but it’s back and on the full speed (following a redacted 2021 experience)! Car Week attracts car enthusiasts from around the world and features several core events.

Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion (Aug 17-20)

Many continue to refer to this event as “The Historics” and each year it features a different marque or theme. This year, the theme is “24 Hours of Le Mans” and over 50 overall and 1st in class winning cars will be displayed. The main feature for me is the wheel-to-wheel racing on the track at Laguna Seca featuring 14 racing brackets from the ’50s through the ’90s.

Tickets start at $30

Pre-Reunion (Aug 13-14)

If you want to skip the crowds, it’s also possible to attend the weekend before view practice sessions and perhaps chat with the crews and drivers before the event (when they will likely be focused on their race).

Tickets start at $40

Concourses are EVERYWHERE

Porsche headlines Friday with the Werks Reunion at a new location (https://www.werksreunion.com/monterey.cfm)

Saturday is Italian Cars at Concorso Italiano (https://concorso.com/) and Sunday is the Pebble Beach Concours (https://pebblebeachconcours.net/)

Tickets can be pricey (especially to the Pebble) but you can also see the cars of Pebble on Tour for free on Thursday: https://pebblebeachconcours.net/event/pebble-beach-tour-delegance/

Many more events occur this week and the show extends out into the streets as Car enthusiasts converge in Monterey with interesting cars.

Perhaps I’ll see you there?

Is It All? No!

Of course, we also have plenty of GGR events scheduled throughout August, including our own annual Concours Event at Redwood City Porsche on 8/7, Autocross on 8/20 at the Cow Palace, and a track event at Sonoma Raceway from 8/26 to 8/28. We are also planning a drive event ending at Sonoma Raceway for lunch and possibly a parade lap or 2. Don’t forget about our regular social events at Alice’s on 8/6 and Harry’s Hofbrau on 8/26. See the GGR Website for more details!

Have a great summer!
