Dear GGR Members,

In early November, the club had a New Member Social event, hosted by The Racer’s Group in Petaluma. Before driving to the event in Petaluma, I was looking at my old computer files. When I first joined the club, my first gig was being The Nugget Editor, what you are reading right now, but back then it was a physically printed magazine that got mailed to your home every month. Back then, I would interview the various companies that advertised in The Nugget.

So I was looking at my old files to find the issue where I interviewed. Kevin Buckler of The Racer’s Group. Turns out it was the October 2001 issue (link here). But while I was looking through the various folders, I came across this picture from the February 2001 issue. It was yours truly on the left, Karen Neidel in the center, and John Seidell on the right.

Later on that day, at The Racer’s Group, I realized I was standing next to Karen and John. So I grabbed them to take another photo, the same people, just 23 years later!

You know the PCA slogan “It’s not just the cars, it’s the people!” Well, I think these photos really captures that PCA spirit. Between the two photos, we have autocrossed together, served on the GGR Board together, ran the track series together, had a few glasses of wine together; over the decades, still involved in the club, still hanging out, and knowing as much as we have given to the club, we get so much back in return as well.

As the Club winds down for 2024, I wanted to give a special thanks to Himanshu Patel (Autocross) and Kate Efremova (Social) for serving on the Board for all these years. I also wanted to welcome Steve Forshay and Diana Bogorodskaya, who will be officially taking over their respective positions starting on January 1st.
