Seventh autocross event witnessed 68 drivers competing on September 14th at Crows Landing on a seasonably warm day with high temperature around 85°F. Connie Lu designed course afforded eight runs with average lap times in the 80 second range. Steve Lau beat his immediate competition – Tara Shapowal-Lau by 0.574 seconds and everyone else, with his fastest lap time of 72.265 seconds. Amazing, considering they both ran four laps or fewer. Note the Lau’s – get a more secure gear shift link. Same set of drivers garnered the first and second place spots in the PAX scheme.
Autocross #8 update
Our eighth event on October 13 th was a Zone 7 event at Crows Landing. Sixty-six drivers attended the event and were treated by an OUT-OF-THE -BOX course design by Brant Ballantyne. Part of the course was laid out in an unused part of the site. Kudos to Brant for not only designing a fun course without a cross-over, but also for putting his landscaping skills to test by cleaning out weeds during the week before the event.
We could not have asked for better weather for this event. All participants got to run eight laps at this long course averaging above 80 second lap times. Steve Lau and Tara Shapowal-Lau ended in first and second places on the Raw Time chart with Steve’s lap time of 65.647 seconds and Tara’s lap time of 66.096 seconds. The PAX chart witnessed same two drivers at the top. It was one, two punch once again by TEAM STORMY. Watch out for the hottest driver of the event – Connie Lu, though. She climbed to the third spot on PAX chart at this event. As her immediate competition, I am now shivering with fear, and so should the rest of competitors.
