Dear GGR Members,
Hope you’ve all had a great summer so far. As I write this, school starts in a few more days for my daughter, so summer is almost over. On the bright side, that means football season is starting soon. I hope the Niners have another great season this year. On the college football front, my alma mater is USC, so it’s going to be totally strange that the Pac 12 no longer exists and we are now part of the Big Ten. But as the saying goes, change is the only constant in the universe.
The Zone 7 Concours at Porsche Redwood City just happened last Sunday. As always, this annual event was fantastic as we got to see the most meticulously prepared Porsches, from the earliest models to the newest models, glistening under our Bay Area sunshine. In addition to a gathering of special cars, there was also a gathering of special GGR members. If you look at our website, you will find all of the members that have been honored by our Region. One of the awards is the Olen Creech Award. There have been three recipients of this award and they all happen to be sitting at the same table last week! On the right is Olen Creech himself, in the middle is Bubba Gong, and to the left is Captain Mike Sherman. I joined PCA in 1999 and I met Olen soon thereafter and I swear that he has not aged a bit in the past 25 years, he looks exactly the same! Clean living and driving Porsches must be the secret to staying healthy.
