President’s Last Blog

Happy Holidays!

As I sit down to pen this, my last blog of the year, and last blog of my term as club President, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on just how great a club GGR and PCA is. It really is about the people and just how much GGR members give to each other. 

Our Christmas party is equal parts a “thank you” to the awesome volunteers who enable our club to function and to put on great events, to get together as a club and dare I say “family”, pass out some awards and just to have fun! I’m honored to have been your President for the last 3+ years.

Here are a few pictures I’d like to share from our recent holiday event, held in the Blackhawk Auto Museum this year. Here’s the space we hired, right in the museum itself. We had 130 members and guests signed up, and we dined amongst the cars.

The Museum also granted us permission to park some of our cars in the upper lot right next to the entrance to make our own artistic display.

2024 Schedules are still being finalized, but here’s a tentative view:

Track: DE/Club Race:

  • February 17-18:  Instructor Training and DE 1 – Thunderhill Raceway 2 mile.
  • April 6-7:  DE 2 and Club Race 1 – Thunderhill Raceway 3 mile – PCA Diablo Region will host a DE on April 5.
  • May 4-5:  DE 3 and Club Race 2 – Buttonwillow Raceway – PCA Central Coast Region will host a DE on May 3.
  • June 29-30:  DE 4 and Club Race 3 – Sonoma Raceway – Diablo will host a DE on June 28.
  • September 7-8 or 14-15:  DE 5 and Club Race 4 – WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca (105 dB) – plus a hosted DE on September 6 or 13.
  • October 12-13:  DE 6 and Club Race 5 – Thunderhill Raceway 3 mile – PCA Diablo Region will host a DE on October 11.

Autocross:

  • March 9 at Crows Landing
  • April 7 at Salinas Airport
  • May 4 at Salinas Airport
  • May 18-19 Car Control Clinic at Alameda
  • June 9 at Salinas Airport
  • July 20  at Salinas Airport
  • August 18  at Salinas Airport
  • September 14 at Crows Landing
  • October 13  at Crows Landing
  • November 9 at Crows Landing

As usual, all dates are subject to change, but we are getting all contracts in place for 2024, and hope to see you at a GGR event real soon.
