What’s Your Porsche Worth?

You may not know it, but the PCA website has a section in which they list a number of links that offer Porsche valuations. With 70% of the Porsches ever built still on the road, it’s often hard to determine what your “older” Porsche is worth. Often PCA members require help in two specific value areas:

  • Obtaining a proper level of insurance coverage for an older Porsche that might otherwise be considered nearly valueless by an insurer.
  • Establishing a proper value for an older Porsche in the case of a claim settlement dispute where the owner thinks the Porsche is worth more (sometimes considerably more) than does his/her insurance company.

To see the list go to the PCA website at

Ho Hum…Porsche is First

I know that all Porsche owners know this, but Porsche is the most attractive brand in the US.   For the 13th time in succession, Porsche has finished top of the overall rankings of the 22nd “Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study”, conducted by US market research institute J.D. Power. The Porsche 911, Cayenne and Macan models also took the top positions in their categories. More than 69,000 new car owners took part in the survey, assessing 243 models from 33 manufacturers in 10 categories.

Porsche Passport – A whole new way to play!!!

Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA) introduced a new way to pay and play this month called Porsche Passport, a new sports car and SUV subscription program that it will pilot in metro Atlanta at first. It provides members’ flexible access to Porsche vehicles via a mobile app with a month-to-month subscription program offers frequent vehicle exchanges, unrestricted mileage, and on-demand access for up to 22 different Porsche models.

Two membership plans

Porsche Passport provides white-glove vehicle delivery in metro Atlanta through two membership plans– “Launch” and “Accelerate.” Both plans require a one-time activation fee of $500, and membership approval is dependent on a background and credit check.

  • Launch”: Includes on-demand access to eight model variants such as the 718 Boxster and Cayman S, as well as the Macan S and Cayenne, for a monthly fee of $2,000.
  • Accelerate”: Includes on-demand access to 22 model variants such as the Porsche 911 Carrera S, the Panamera 4S sports sedan, the Macan GTS and Cayenne S E-Hybrid SUVs, in addition to the vehicles offered in the “Launch” package, for a monthly fee of $3,000.

New Macan Turbo – Faster, Prettier, More Bling!

So, the Macan just got better, faster, and more elegant with the introduction of the new Porsche Turbo Exclusive Performance Edition!

Based on the Macan Turbo with Performance Package, it features a 3.6-litre V6 turbo engine capable of producing 440 HP. This uber-Macan is being handcrafted in the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur department at the Leipzig production site. Here’s the rub, it is only available in selected countries. Coming to the US? I don’t know but stand by,.

How will you know the uber-Macan, other than when it blows by your 911? Well, the package includes features 21-inch 911 Turbo Design wheels with lateral spokes painted in Black (high-gloss), LED headlights and tinted LED rear lights. Elements on the front spoiler, rear apron and sideblades painted in Carmine Red are just one example of such exclusive details. The “Macan turbo” model designation is also painted in Carmine Red underneath the Black (high-gloss) “PORSCHE” logo on the rear end.

The inside features accents in black and red, with several Alcantara elements, embroidered “turbo” lettering on the headrests, the seat belts, the ring of the Sport Chrono stopwatch and the vehicle key wallet. The front seats, rear bench seat and steering wheel are all heated as standard. Hope to see it here soon!!!

GGR Keeps Growing!

You may note that  we’ve now hit +3200 members. That’s a tribute to us all as membership is a job for everyone. That’s why I recently emailed copies of our “leave behind” card for all members to reprint and distribute (see below).  If you don’t like leaving them in windshields, then feel free to hand them to Porsche drivers whenever you can.

And if you have friends who might be interested, the PCA website now has a “Refer a Friend” feature that is an excellent way to invite and introduce prospective members to the Porsche Club of America.  It is an easy and quick way to follow up after making a personal contact.  See the steps below.  The great thing about this feature is that ANY member can use it.  So, give it a try.
1. Log in to your account.
2. From the Menu Bar, click Membership, Refer a Friend.
3. Under “Refer Friends” enter the email addresses of friends you would like to refer.  Separate each email address by a comma.
4. Under “Message” an automatic message will appear.  Feel free to make changes.  In fact, I would encourage you to personalize your message and direct them not only to the PCA website, but the Membership Benefits page as well (  Whatever message is in the box will be sent to each friend you listed.

PCA Quest

On the other hand, if you know someone who is actively trying to become Porsche owners, the “PCA Quest” program is a great way to attract potential club members.  The program provides a six-month subscription to Porsche Panorama and a temporary account to log on to the National PCA website.   In addition, they’ll have online access to The Mart with hundreds of Porsches for sale by PCA members.  I encourage you to welcome these guests in your Region and show them what PCA is all about.  More detailed information can be found by typing “Quest” in the search box on the home page.

GGR Placards

I’ve restocked the cupboard with all new reprints of our placard that feature our new numbers (3000+) and I know you’ll want to hand these out! These are available at every GGR function and we’d like you to pick some up and feel free to use them whenever you see an unaffiliated Porsche sitting idle. I stick them on windshields of Porsches or hand them to drivers if they don’t have our logo in the window.  No one is safe from the devious membership director! Porsche owners in Half Moon Bay now run when they see me coming!  If you want, I’ll even mail some to you so you can hand them out…let me know and I’ll get them to you!

Badges – I still got em!

I still have a HUUUGE back-log of badges created from event “no shows.”  Please make sure to ask for yours at the next event you attend, we’ll have them set out. Member badges are provided free to all those new members/affiliates who RSVP and attend social and/or driving events for the first time. Otherwise, member badges are available for a small fee through Spotlight Impressions in San Mateo. The badges feature the GGR logo, your name and a convenient magnetic clasp. The cost is $12.00 for the badge plus shipping. So, it behooves you to get them from us during an event. Otherwise, to order your badges fill out the form on our website at and email back to Spotlight Impressions at  Make sure to wear your badge to all functions to help interact with 0ther members!

Logo-wear – New Stuff!

We’ve got a great selection at the GGR- PCA online Webstore with both men and women’s hoodies, sweatshirts, etc.  The site features a whole line of wearable GGR plunder. It’s located at; look for us in the regional section, create an account, and get shopping.  If you have a recommendation for some other item, let us know.

Remember to check the calendar for upcoming events.  See you at the AX,  Track, Fun Run or next social function, e.g., Boxster Brunch?

Drive Safely

Halloween is almost upon us. So, be careful of those ghosts and goblins at the end of the month!

Cheers and enjoy the Fall (warm!) weather!

Capt. Mike
