President’s Message – December 2015
I’ve served as president of the Golden Gate Region of the PCA for the past two years and now it’s time to hand over the reigns to a new president – Andrew Forrest. Two years ago I set myself five goals: The first was to modernize the external look of the club by updating our website and communications. The second was to grow the membership from 2,450 to over 3,000. The third was to increase the number and type of events to address the different styles of driving our members prefer. The fourth was to make sure new members felt as if they were part of the family at all of our events. And finally, I wanted to ensure we interacted well with other regions in the zone and the country.
We accomplished every goal and were even recognized by PCA national for our efforts. The praise goes to all of the volunteers that made this happen, my fellow board members, the “socialistas”, the track and autocross teams, our AX school leads and everyone else that helped make an event successful. Of course, it really is about the people, not the cars — but it is fun to talk about the cars. My thanks to everyone for being so supportive.
I will still be active in the club next year as track chair. For those of you that would like to try your car on the track, we have a cadre of volunteer nationally trained instructors that can help first timers. For all of you track junkies and club racers, I look forward to seeing you next year.
