October 2019 Track Report

Where has 2019 gone?  It has been speeding by like an RS (or a Kenny Park driven 914)!

Our DE and club race at Thunderhill saw nearly 100 DE drivers and over 30 racers.  Between your well oiled track team machine and the Thunderhill staff, our events at Thunderhill are always safe and fun.

But here we are, with only two more events grace GGR’s track calendar this year – a three day DE October 18-20 at Laguna Seca, and our “Porsches at the Point” club race at Sonoma October 26-27.

Our final DE for 2019, at the exciting and popular Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca, will include opportunities for Beginners, Novices, Intermediate and Advanced drivers to receive instruction from our experienced PCA National instructors.  Your Chief Driving Instructor, Scott Kalkin, is working on the event schedule to ensure lots of on-track time.  The weather gods have promised dry, 70 degree, horsepower multiplying weather, too.

For our (but not the) last Club Race of the 2019 West Coast Series, we’ll be back at the elegant and challenging Sonoma Raceway.  This is event is part of NASA’s racing and HPDE weekend.  We’re fortunate to be able to partner with them year after year.  Our friends at PRC will be roasting a pig in the paddock all day on Saturday in prep for a bbq bash Saturday evening!  Racers know how to party!

Our 2020 track schedule (including a possible “Kahuna II”) is taking shape.  We look forward to being able to publish it in about a month.

Eyes up, drivers!

See you at the track!
