Carlsen AX School Jams!

Long-time autocross series sponsor, Carlsen Porsche picked up sponsorship of the annual autocross school this year.  Yesterday, the 50 beginning drivers enrolled were recipients of some amazing driving experiences, with the opportunity to see exactly what a Porsche can do under the  “controlled chaos” of autocrossing.  The display of Porsche autos was amazing and ranged from early air-cooled to turbo to Macan, to Cayenne, to a lone Panamera – which performed flawlessly. GGR’s recent 1-2-3 podium win at the Men’s AX at the Spokane Porsche Parade is testament to the pride and commitment being made to teach new Bay Area Porsche owners the basics of great fun!

The Werks Reunion is just around the corner!

I know you all are super volunteers, so here’s another chance to excel.  Looks like more folks are needed to help out wrangling the Porsches and their owners.  If you are attending Werks Reunion, they can use a few more volunteers throughout Friday, 18 August. Early in the day, they will need help to direct Porsches and handing out goodie bags to more than 500 cars. They could also use help at the end of the day with tear down and clean up. PCA Corral Tent, at Turn 5 Laguna Seca, will be open Saturday and Sunday 8am to 5pm. They can use help directing cars and checking Porsche owners in at the Hospitality tent. You must have race tickets to enter the Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion.
If you have some time to help, please let them know by contacting:
Sandy Provasi, Zone 7 Rep – sandyprovasi@gmail.com

From the PCA Website:  The popular Porsche show Werks Reunion will be held on August 18, 2017 at a new location, the Corral de Tierra Country Club near Laguna Seca Raceway, during Monterey Car Week. REFER A FRIEND

You may note that  we’ve now hit +3200 members. That’s a tribute to us all as membership is a job for everyone. That’s why I recently emailed copies of our “leave behind” card for all members to reprint and distribute (see below).  If you don’t like leaving them in windshields, then feel free to hand them to Porsche drivers whenever you can.

And if you have friends who might be interested, the PCA website now has a “Refer a Friend” feature that is an excellent way to invite and introduce prospective members to the Porsche Club of America.  It is an easy and quick way to follow up after making a personal contact.  See the steps below.  The great thing about this feature is that ANY member can use it.  So, give it a try.
1. Log in to your account.
2. From the Menu Bar, click Membership, Refer a Friend.
3. Under “Refer Friends” enter the email addresses of friends you would like to refer.  Separate each email address by a comma.
4. Under “Message” an automatic message will appear.  Feel free to make changes.  In fact, I would encourage you to personalize your message and direct them not only to the PCA website, but the Membership Benefits page as well (https://www.pca.org/membership-benefits).  Whatever message is in the box will be sent to each friend you listed.

5. Click Submit.

New PCA Program- “QUEST”

If you know someone who is actively trying to become Porsche owners, the newly-named  “PCA Quest” program is a great way to attract potential club members.  The program provides a six-month subscription to Porsche Panorama and a temporary account to log on to the National PCA website.   In addition, they’ll have online access to The Mart with hundreds of Porsches for sale by PCA members.  I encourage you to welcome these guests in your Region and show them what PCA is all about.  More detailed information can be found by typing “Quest” in the search box on the  PCA.org home page.

GGR Placards

IMG_0258

Our placard (right) has been sent by email to all of you so you can reprint and get them out there..  They are also available at every GGR function and we’d like you to pick some up and feel free to use them whenever you see an unaffiliated Porsche sitting idle. I stick them on windshields of Porsches or hand them to drivers if they don’t have our logo in the window.  No one is safe from the devious membership director! Porsche owners in Half Moon Bay now run when they see me coming!  If you want, I’ll even mail some to you so you can hand them out…let me know and I’ll get them to you!

Badges – I still got em!

I still have a HUUUGE back-log of badges created from event “no shows.”  Please make sure to ask for yours at the next event you attend, we’ll have them set out. Member badges are provided free to all those new members/affiliates who RSVP and attend social and/or driving events for the first time. Otherwise, member badges are available for a small fee through Spotlight Impressions in San Mateo. The badges feature the GGR logo, your name and a convenient magnetic clasp. The cost is $12.00 for the badge plus shipping. So, it behooves you to get them from us during an event. Otherwise, to order your badges fill out the form on our website at www.pca-ggr.org/membership/badges and email back to Spotlight Impressions at sales@spotlightimpressions.com.  Make sure to wear your badge to all functions to help interact with 0ther members!
