May Motoring / Social Report
On Saturday 4/22 we meandered around Marin back roads for a scenic two hour drive eventually ending at The Racer’s Group for lunch, a Tech Talk, and wine tasting at the on-site Adobe Road Winery tasting room. This FunRun, the 3rd one this year, was a hybrid event combining a Drive in the twisties with a Destination Tour. And with sunny weather, gorgeous green hills with cows sprinkled on top, plus views of Tomales Bay, we had a real hit on our hands.
In Petaluma, we enjoyed sandwiches at TRG, and then listed to owner Kevin Buckler reminisce on his 2002 Le Mans win in a Porsche, as well as other motor sports victories. We then invaded his race shop, peppering his mechanics with questions and generally climbing all over the racing machinery on display. Ever sit in a full-race GT3R with roll cage and stripped out interior? Well, you should have seen [some of] us squeezing in and out of a very cramped driver’s compartment. It was great fun and this event turned out to be one of our all-time favorite FunRuns. And did I mention that the wine was really good, too… Now take a look at these photos, and check out more in our full gallery!
