December/January Autocross Report – Getting ready for the GGR Annual Holiday Season Banquet and Awards, 2020 Season Schedule Updates

Hope you had a great holiday season! Next, I’m looking very much forward to the upcoming GGR Holiday Banquet and Awards at the USS Hornet (coming up on Jan 25). This year it will be held in Alameda at the USS Hornet, which is moored on the other side of the Base from where we have held our autocross events for the last 15 years.

There’s a lot of great history around this World War 2 Carrier, which was designated a National Landmark in 1991 and opened as a museum in 1998.

Another interesting tie in is that Porsche recently filmed a Taycan promotional video on her deck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbA4RHgDB5g

The space we’ve arranged for the Annual GGR Holiday Season Banquet and Awards dinner is the Officer’s Wardroom aboard the USS Hornet, which seats up to 125 guests and we have an option to upgrade the space if demand warrants. The proceeds from our rental, benefits the non-profit that maintains the ship and museum.

This event is for ALL club members not just autocrossers, if you love Porsches and want to mingle with other Porsche enthusiasts, this is the event for you. You can also learn about our other 2020 GGR events (autocross, track, concours, drives, social events) and a special 2020 events calendar will be handed out at the event.

The event is now over half full, but you can still sign-up here: msreg.com/hornet

For autocross, this is the off season, so the cars are all getting oil changes, maintenance and a few mods if I can find the time. My 1st New Year’s resolution is to get my Akrapovic exhaust out of that box on onto the GT3. Hey, it’s only 5 points and I can stay in class. Passing sound at Laguna might be an issue though. We’ll see.
