Spring PCA Raffle is ON!

Yes, you too can win a Porsche…people really do!  Here comes the PCA Spring 2018 Member Only Raffle, and theyre giving away a Porsche 718 GTS — Boxster or Cayman — plus $25,000 cash as the grand prize. After the initial 8,500 entries, another grand prize will be added for every additional 4,000 entries sold.

The 718 GTS is the latest addition to Porsche’s mid-engined sports car lineup and a step up in performance and standard equipment compared to the 718 S. GTS models are equipped with a 2.5-liter flat four making 365 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system lowers it 10 millimeters, and styling enhancements identify it from it brethren. Click here to read more about the 718 GTS.

Only PCA members may purchase tickets. All entries received by June 1, 2018 will be accepted.

Porsche Parade Heads to the Ozarks!

Porsche Parade, PCA’s annual weeklong event, takes place in a new location each year. For 2018, they’re heading to the midwest — the summer resort town of Osage Beach on the Lake of the Ozarks. In addition to traditional Parade activities such as concours, autocross, time-speed-distance and gimmick rallies, the location provides family friendly fun with watersports, boating, golf, an indoor waterpark, and more.

Visit the Porsche Parade website and see the video…it explains it all:

It’s all about the Mission E This Year!

Things are electric around Porsche this year, now that they’ve unveiled their latest…the Mission E!  Now that Porsche has decided to move forward  next year with an electric car based on its Mission E concept as seen at the 2015 Frankfurt auto show, the whole buzz is what’s next?  Car mags are even speculating that there may be an all electric 911 in the future…I’m not sure about that! With a 300 mile range and plans for almost 500 nation-wide chargers available, it looks like Porsche is well on the path to more hybrids and all electrics.

Maroon 5 and the Mission E

Rock star Adam Levine has owned a 1958 356A Speedster for ten years, and at the Experience Centre L.A. he had the opportunity to swap the wheel of his historic Porsche for that of the Mission E concept study. Watch the film to see how the sports car of the future measured up when the Maroon 5 frontman took a seat in the cockpit:  https://youtu.be/HCdKezPKPIM

Carlsen Porsche Concours Slated for October

Great news is that we’re gearing up for this year’s annual concours! As some might recall, we were unable to hold the 2017 Carlsen/GGR Concours and barbecue due to construction at the dealership…they’ve really undergone an extensive renovation. But we are back on, so pencil in Sunday, October 7, 2018…perhaps a bit of Oktoberfest in Redwood City? Look for the flyer announcing it officially, but here’s the skinny for now:

Presented by Golden Gate Region, Porsche Club of America.  This event is part of the 2018 Zone 7 Competition Series

Refer a Friend

If you have friends who might be interested in Porsche, go to the PCA website and the “Refer a Friend” feature. It’s an excellent way to invite and introduce prospective members to the Porsche Club of America.  It is an easy and quick way to follow up after making a personal contact.  See the steps below.  The great thing about this feature is that ANY member can use it.  So, give it a try.

1. Log in to your account.
2. From the Menu Bar, click Membership, Refer a Friend.
3. Under “Refer Friends” enter the email addresses of friends you would like to refer.  Separate each email address by a comma.
4. Under “Message” an automatic message will appear.  Feel free to make changes.  In fact, I would encourage you to personalize your message and direct them not only to the PCA website, but the Membership Benefits page as well (https://www.pca.org/membership-benefits).  Whatever message is in the box will be sent to each friend you listed.

GGR Placards

IMG_0258

I’ve restocked the cupboard with all new reprints of our placard that feature our new numbers (3200+) and I know you’ll want to hand these out! These are available at every GGR function and we’d like you to pick some up and feel free to use them whenever you see an unaffiliated Porsche sitting idle. I stick them on windshields of Porsches or hand them to drivers if they don’t have our logo in the window.  No one is safe from the devious membership director! Porsche owners in Half Moon Bay now run when they see me coming!  If you want, I’ll even mail some to you so you can hand them out…let me know and I’ll get them to you!

Badges – I still got em! C’mon…I’ll SEND THEM!

IF YOU FORGOT TO PICK IT UP AT THE EVENT AND STILL WANT THEM EMAIL ME AND I’ll SEND THEM!

If you failed to pick up your badge at some even, let me know…I’ll send it to you….! C0ntact me at: HMBSHERM@COMCAST.NET
