Ready to Go Electric?
Ready or not, here it comes, the “Lively Young Horse”…ok, it’s called the Taycan (TIE-con), and that’s what it means in Malay, I guess. But it does represent the horse on our logo — I know, check it out. Unfortunately for some, it is real and there are bound to be screams and yells all across the Porsche universe about it. We know it won’t be a Tesla.0 because it’s a Porsche. What we do know is that it will perform, charge faster (add 250 miles in 15 minutes), corner better, and have anywhere from 402HP, 536 HP, to 670 HP depending on variant. That’s real grunt! And it’s not going to be electric Panamera! We’ve seen one actually here in the Bay Area late last year, but expect to see them hitting the shelves later this year…and Porsche plans on at least 20,000 or more. Cost is not going to shock you too much (sorry) with the margin being from $80K – $103K…but you know our marque…then there’s options!
Give Membership as a Present!
Did you know you can give a membership to a family member or friend with a Porsche as a gift? It’s easy to do! All you have to do is send an email to PCA (email@example.com) with the contact info – email and phone of the person you wish to purchase the gift for (PCA won’t contact them until next year or prior to the event). They can use your contact information to set up the account initially, if you want to receive the info. So that you can hand them the membership as a gift, PCA can send you a copy of Panorama, a decal and a PCA keychain at no charge. It’s that easy!
Watch Porsche TV
From now on, the centralised video portal “newsTV” will be the place to go for all of Porsche’s exclusive video content – free of charge and with no registration required. newsTV.porsche.de provides background information on the company as well as about new products for journalists and distributors (make sure to scroll to English). World premieres and new car unveiling can be watched live. All content – in both German and English languages – can be called up on any mobile device as well as via a desktop.
When the first 911 “Cab” rolled off the line in 1982, a decades-long tradition began. in 2019 it continues with he latest 911 Cabriolet that draws on the earlier generations of 911s. The new 911 Cabriolet looks wider, more self-assured and altogether more muscular than its predecessor. Technology has run rampant in this one…in a world first, Porsche has developed Wet Mode, which is included as standard. This function detects water on the road, preconditions the control systems accordingly and warns the driver, who can then set the car up to focus on safety, by simply pushing a button or using the mode switch on the steering wheel (Sport Chrono Package).
The camera-based warning and brake assist system, also fitted as standard, detects the risk of collision with vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists, and initiates a warning or emergency braking procedure if necessary. A park assistant system including reversing camera completes the standard configuration of the Cabriolet. Options for the 911 include Night Vision Assist with thermal imaging camera, as well as adaptive cruise control with automatic distance control, stop-and-go function and reversible occupant protection.
Where do New Members Get Their Info?
There are many ways that our new members find out that GGR is alive and well and the best place to link up with all lovers of Porsche. PCA has recently provided us with some stats on where newbies get their info. Note that PCA member referrals lead the list…that means we need our members to get out there and work the field!

Now that you’ve seen what influence you can have on new members, take look at our leave-behind. I’ve restocked the cupboard with all new reprints of our placard that feature our new numbers (3400+) and I know you’ll want to hand these out! These are available at every GGR function and we’d like you to pick some up and feel free to use them whenever you see an unaffiliated Porsche sitting idle. I stick them on windshields of Porsches or hand them to drivers if they don’t have our logo in the window. No one is safe from the devious membership director! Porsche owners in Half Moon Bay now run when they see me coming! If you want, I’ll even mail some to you so you can hand them out…let me know and I’ll get them to you!

Refer a Friend
If you have friends who might be interested in Porsche, go to the PCA website and the “Refer a Friend” feature. It’s an excellent way to invite and introduce prospective members to the Porsche Club of America. It is an easy and quick way to follow up after making a personal contact. See the steps below. The great thing about this feature is that ANY member can use it. So, give it a try.
1. Log in to your account.
2. From the Menu Bar, click Membership, Refer a Friend.
3. Under “Refer Friends” enter the email addresses of friends you would like to refer. Separate each email address by a comma.
4. Under “Message” an automatic message will appear. Feel free to make changes. In fact, I would encourage you to personalize your message and direct them not only to the PCA website, but the Membership Benefits page as well (https://www.pca.org/membership-benefits). Whatever message is in the box will be sent to each friend you listed.
