GGR at the Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival
By Kevin Laird, tour lead
The month of October took 7 GGR members in 4 cars all the way out to Albuquerque, joining the AZ PCA on their second annual tour to the Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival. While most of the GGR members made their own way out to Scottsdale, AZ for the start of the tour, one intrepid pair flew into Phoenix and rented a Porsche. On the way to the Balloon Festival, the AZ tour included visits to the Very Large Array radio telescope, the Trinity nuclear test site, and the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History.
At the conclusion of the AZ PCA tour, some of the GGR crew continued on to Durango, CO to take a ride on the historic Durango & Silverton Railroad. We then continued on to Monument Valley and Four Corners on the way to Bryce Canyon and Cedar Breaks National Parks. We wrapped up the trip with stops at Zion National Park and Nevada’s Valley of Fire on the way to Vegas and home.
My odometer recorded 3,082 fun filled miles round trip from the Bay Area. If you are interested in GGR producing more road trips like this, let us know!
