Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

February 6, 2021

Present: John Celona, Canyon Chan, Andrew Forrest, Chris Hamilton, Ed Hunter, Jim McClelland, Himanshu Patel, Michael Sherman, Howard Yao.

Call to Order: 

The meeting was called to order at 3:05 pm.

Past Events
Feb 5th Diablo/GGR DE Lead Follow Instructor Training took place at Thunderhill Raceway.

Directors’ Reports

February 2nd, Large Region President’s meeting took place. Discussed both lead follow and in-car DE instruction at various states across the US. One region is looking to have a 15 minute COVID test station at the gate. Some regions said they are having a hard time competing with commercial track day competition.

Working on new website that is more phone friendly. Ask Board members to review the data hierarchy of the new website and provide feedback to John and Chris within a week.

Motion to establish budget of $6,500 for website developer to help launch new website and Autocross Classification system. Motion was passed unanimously.

Ed to provide certificates of insurance for upcoming track events.


A motion to approve Howard’s Board Meeting Minutes from January 10 was carried without dissent.

Deposit for Sonoma has been issued. Revenue for DE registration has started to flow into the club account. Canyon issued the January financial report summary, which was approved unanimously.

Membership Director:
As of the time of this meeting, PCA GGR has 3,504 members total. Last month we gained 37 members and 113 renewals. A motion to approve all new members was carried unanimously.

Porsche Redwood City sponsorship check has been issued.

Social Director:

No report.

Autocross Director:
2020 AX Season trophies have been ordered and will arrive in the next few weeks.

Cow Palace has approved first March 13 event. Himanshu will look for a place to store the AX trailer that is closer to Cow Palace. AX trailer graphics to be updated to show Porsche Redwood City sponsorship.

Committee has proposed to adopt the Zone 8 AX system as we explore our own classification system in the future. Zone 8 will allow Zone 7 participants to use their classification website. 

Himanshu plans on organizing a Mines Road tour in February.  

Motoring Director:

This position is open, if you are interested in taking on this role, please contact any of the Board members for more information.

Track Director:
30 instructors attended the Diablo/GGR instructor training program. Event was very informative, now we have a core group of trained instructors to implement lead follow instruction at future track events.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:57 pm. The next Board Meeting is scheduled for March 7 at 3:00 pm.
