Don’t Zone Out
A good portion of Golden Gate’s membership know that PCA National breaks North America into 14 zones, and that GGR makes up one of the 10 regions in Zone 7. Despite us cross-publishing our Zone Representative Sandy Provasi’s blog post every month, few know what that actually means.
For a start, it means more fun for you!
A practical example of this is the High Altitude Porsche Tour, an event put on by our Zone 7 friends in the Sequoia region, and something I was lucky enough to attend the weekend before last. This three day tour at Mammoth Lakes travels through some of the most amazing scenery and roads in the state. It unfortunately conflicted with our autocross weekend, but those looking for less competition and more high country experienced a wonderful long weekend of driving, socializing, and fine food (personally, I wish I could have been at both events…). This wasn’t even an “official” zone event, and yet members from five regions across the zone were present, with over 60 GGR members making the trek. You can enjoy events like this because GGR is a part of this wonderful zone.
Then there are the official Zone 7 events, including tours, concours, autocross, and social events, all produced by one of the member regions. Our zone is even host to major PCA events like Werks Reunion, Rennsport Reunion, and the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion (phew, that’s a lot of reunions). They’re all listed on the Zone 7 calendar for your perusal.
All this is to say if the five or so GGR events we put on every month aren’t enough for you, you’ve got a whole new world of action at your fingertips with other events across Zone 7, making it all the more easy to get out there and drive.
