Board Meeting Minutes
October 18, 2017

Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 6:36 pm.

Final discussion of report from the Nomination Committee.
Call for calendar changes:
The next Board of Directors meeting date set for November 30, to cover both November and December. Board meeting dates for first quarter of 2018 will be set at that time.
Postmortem of events
The Carmel Valley Fun Run on October 7 was well attended, with 41 cars and 62 participants. The lunch was enjoyed and the event was well run. The 3-day Fun Run to Santa Barbara in late September had very positive feedback from attendees, including lots of photographs being submitted for inclusion in the website galleries.. A grand total of $2500 was donated to the MS society.
The President cannot attend next Zone meeting, so the Webmaster will be attending in his place.
Logistics for the holiday party, scheduled for Saturday January 6, are underway, with most details having been ironed out. The Banquet is to be held at Burlingame Recreation Center. The post-banquet festivities will be held at the Candy Store. Due to venue restrictions, attendance is going to be limited to 160 people, with explicit reservations held for Autocross awards. The Board discussed method and process for procuring awards trophies.
The Treasurer’s report continues to indicate that the club is in good financial health versus last year. The Treasurer was lauded by the Board for a clean and concise financial reconciliation report. A motion to approve the Treasurer’s report was carried without dissent.
A motion to approve the Secretary’s report was carried without dissent.
The final Fun Run of the year was to Carmel, discussed in the event post-mortem. A Social Mixer in SF was cancelled, due lack of response. The Board discussed that this was likely due to late planning and insufficient advertising.
The final Driver’s Education event of the year is upcoming on the weekend of October 28-29 at Sonoma. At the time of the meeting, 23 drivers were signed up. The Board discussed the theoretical impact on the event, given the potential for either rain or continued fires. Track dates for 2018 are currently being booked, with many requested dates still unconfirmed. The website calendar will be updated to reflect this information once dates are confirmed with respective tracks.
The AX Chair had a light report, as there were no events since previous Board meeting. He did indicated that new timing equipment is still being investigated.
As of this meeting the GGR club has 3250 total members, 2193 of which are active, and 1051 co-members. Since the last meeting there were 46 new members, 98 renewals, 36 drops, and 4 transfers in. A motion to approve all new members was carried unanimously. The Membership Chair noted that new advertising placards have printed and are awaiting distribution.
Editor (The Nugget):
The Editor requests that blog posts are due by October 27. The most read article in the last month was Triple AX report.
The Board discussed how to optimize the existing website, and debated whether to lightly update or undergo a complete redesign. Given the concerns raised about the overall usability of the current website, the Board agreed to solicit quotes for a redesign, and will budget that work for the 2018 calendar year. Finally, there were some slight changes made to the Autocross signup flow.
Topics for discussion:
The results of Nominating Committee were discussed, with the result of nominees being approved by the Board.
