Postmortem of events:
Autocross #4 was held at Alameda on June 24, with 108 participants in attendance.  Seven runs were completed, without incident.  The only issues to report were related to timing, as well as late delivery of porta-potties.

A group of nine cars caravanned up to Spokane for Porsche Parade, with an overnight stop on the way up.  Parade was fun and well enjoyed, and was definitely biased towards social events versus driving.  Despite that, still GGR dominated AX with a men’s podium shut-out, and placed highly in rallies.  Additionally 4th place for awarded to the GGR website of the year, with specific notice from the judges about the Nugget archives.

The Club Race at Sonoma Raceway with SCCA on June 30 went well.  Thirty seven cars attended overall, and all enjoyed the double-yellow free weekend!

The Driver’s Education event at Thunderhill on the weekend of June 24 had 72 cars in attendance.  The event was well run, with no incidents.  Unfortunately, the weather was unseasonably hot, peaking at 108F/42C.

The Driver’s Education event Laguna Seca on the weekend of July 22 had 149 cars attend, even with this years’ modest price increase.  A great time was had, with only a single incident reported.

Directors’ Reports

President:
The GGR President attended National Board meeting, where minor items regarding the national club were discussed and voted upon.

Vice-President:
The VP indicated that the insurance docs are on the way for the September combined Driver’s Education and Club Race at Thunderhill.  The insurance for the August Mines Rd FunRun is in hand, and that Autocross was good to go through end of year.    Insurances for the FunRun to Santa Barbara are in the planning stages.  A location for the holiday event is still under investigation, with special thanks provided to the Treasurer for assistance.

Treasurer:
The Treasurer presented monthly financials to the Board, which demonstrated the Club financial healthy overall.  The Treasurer noted, however, he was still waiting to reconcile a few track days to get clearer picture.  The Board discussed additional financial controls for larger expenses, but no decisions were made.  A motion to approve the Treasurer’s report was carried without dissent.

Secretary:
A motion to approve the Secretary’s report was carried without dissent.

Social:
The Social Director noted that the August 20 FunRun on Mines was in preparation, as was the Santa Barbara overnight FunRun in September.  A run in October to Carmel Valley in is the planning phases.  Also discussed was the potential for resurrecting Time and Distance rallies, which there has been renewed interest.

Track Chair:
The Track Chair discussed a proposal to create separate rule books for both Driver’s Education and Autocross.  Ostensibly, the Driver’s Education rules would adhere to PCA National standards with a few specific GGR amendments.  The upcoming Club Race and Driver’s Education at Thunderhill the weekend of September 2 has  34 cars signed up for DE at time of meeting, 17 for CR.  This will be final event of the year!  For the 2018 season, the Track Chair noted he requested that Buttonwillow dates not to coincide with Memorial Day, and that Thunderhill dates are still in planning.  SCCA will have 2018 dates scheduled late this year for Laguna Seca and Sonoma Raceway.  Finally, there was discussion for consideration of making an attempt to secure a 105 dB day for Laguna Seca in 2018, which is substantially more expensive than usual 92dB days we secure.  The Board agreed that the Track Chair submit a business case for discussion at the next meeting in September.

AX Chair:
The Autocross Chair informed the Board that the AX rules changes, specifically the removal of references to Time Trials, is in process.  The Carlsen Autocross school on July 29 and subsequent Autocross at Alameda the next day are ready to go.

Membership:
As of this meeting the GGR club has 3217 members, including 59 new members, 87 renewals, and 29 drops.  A motion to approve all new members was carried unanimously.  The Membership Chair also noted an email blast sent out to members for the Carlsen Autocross School, and noted that T-shirts and banner were in his possession for that event.  Finally, a photo and Autocross sumary were sent to Panorama for inclusion in a future issue.  Please note that GGR is well represented in latest Panorama, on page 108!

Editor (The Nugget):
The Editor requested that all blog posts be published by July 28.  The most read article of June was AX#4 Report.

Webmaster:
Nothing to report.

Topics for discussion:
The Board reviewed and discussed the Nominating Committee report for the upcoming 2017 Board elections.  A motion to approve the report was carried without dissent.  The Secretary will commence preparation for elections.

As noted in the Track Chair report, a discussion regarding a CR/DE day at Laguna Seca at 105dB resulted in the request that a business case be made by the Track Chair to be discussed at subsequent Board meeting in September.

Adjournment:

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:58 pm.
