Autocross #6 Report
August’s Autocross was yet another sold out event at Alameda with 105 pre-registered. The course was on the shorter side for Alameda and aside from a few too many zigs and zags (for some) at the start it was very enjoyable, with good flow overall. I almost managed to grab the “cone king” crown but missed it by 1 cone.
We started and finished on the west side of the runway (which in my memory we had never done) and for once we didn’t use the “boot”. Hooray for trying something new. There was a lot of wind in the mid-afternoon which caused some equipment mis-alignment issues which resulted in a few delays. We still managed 9 runs each.
The GT3’s earned the top 2 classes and Boxster/Cayman platform sweeping the next 8 classes (AX05-AX12). Top cars and car types were similar to last month. Top class finishers below:

The next AX event is a special 2 day Zone 7 event down at Marina Municipal Airport. Saturday 9/28 is the LPR day: https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/pca-lpr-ax-7-marina-airport-loma-prieta-autocross-666290 with Sunday being our event: msreg.com/ggr7-2019
Since many people come for both days Zone is hosting a “no-host” Dinner at the Baja Cantina. Cost is $27-28 depending on the entrée you select and you can opt-in or out during the registration process for both events (please only signup for dinner once since we merge the lists together). You pay at the dinner.
If you’re interesting in running for Zone points, select your Zone class during registration, or if you’re not running for points, select “FUN” for the 2nd “segment” so we don’t have to record and track your points for the 2nd series. That said, it’s not too late to participate in the regional Zone competition, minimum is 5 events in 3 different regions and if you attend these 2 you’re half way there!
If you’re interested, I’d advise signing up sooner rather than later. Every AX event so far this year has sold out in 2-3 weeks, well before the event. Only 3 more events remain this year:
- Autocross #7 – September 29 (joint ZONE 7 weekend with LPR at MARINA) (Sunday)
- Autocross #8 – October 19 ALAMEDA (Saturday)
- Autocross #9 – November 16 ALAMEDA (Saturday)
