Annual Toys for Tots Benefit / Volunteer Appreciation Day
GGR annually celebrates the holidays with our Toys for Tots Benefit / Volunteer Appreciation Day. This event has two purposes: first, invitees are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to bring a little bit of joy to an underprivileged child on Christmas. Seems like one of the best ways to celebrate the holidays!
The other purpose is to thank the volunteers who pitch in all year long to help organize, put on and run events for GGR. We’re an all-volunteer organization and without these efforts, well, there wouldn’t be any events! Board members are asked to submit lists of the lucky volunteers, and those lucky folks were invited a few weeks ago.
This year, the event will be at Creola Bistro in San Carlos. To stay Covid-safe, we offered three options: dine-in (space limited), dine outdoor, or even just pick up your meal to go.
This year being what it is (!), our dine-in option went away with the latest round of Covid restrictions, so everyone will be eating outside. We’re working on tenting and heaters to make the evening event more comfortable. Good time to break out your “Michigan coat!” (Mine is ankle-length black cashmere for when I was commuting to GM headquarters. It was almost warm enough for January in Detroit—but so snuggly for California!)
We’re looking forward to a fun, safe, outdoors-distanced event for those able to join us in person, and looking to wave howdy to those picking up. Hope you step up for a club job so we can see you there next year!
